Here are some fun workouts you need to try
Bored with the same exercises and equipment at the gym? How about you give the gym sessions a miss and try out fun workouts that will not only get your adrenaline pumping, but will also help you burn some serious calories while at it. These workouts are fun to do, whether you are doing them alone or with friends. So the next time you want to try out different fitness routines, keep these in mind.
Trampoline workouts
They might seem like a fun-filled activity at the mall,
but trampolines have moved beyond that and are now a part of fitness routines
of those looking to lose weight. This rebounding exercise, where you jump up
and down on a trampoline, is a great low-impact workout because it doesn't put
much stress on your joints. A trampoline workout also strengthens your legs, glutes, and abdominal
muscles. It is also a good oxygenating exercise that increases your capacity of
breathing. It increases blood circulation, thus reducing pressure and
inflammation of joints.
Boot camps
These military-inspired workouts are a fun way to help
you burn massive amounts of calories. No two boot camp classes will have the
same exercises. So expect to try out everything from squats, lunges, presses,
ropes, ski machines, burpees, sit-ups and other
exercises. They combine strength and cardio exercises for a full-body workout
that gets the heart pumping, challenges your muscles, increases cardiovascular
endurance, burns fat, increases lean muscle mass, targets a variety of muscle
groups at once, giving you a complete body workout. According to the University
of Wisconsin, you can burn an average of 600 calories per hour at a boot camp
class.
Pole dancing
There is a reason why actors like Jacqueline Fernandez
have taken to this fun way of staying fit. Pole
dancing involves plenty
of stretching, leg extensions, aerial splits and back bends, all of which make
your body flexible, which is a good way to prevent injury and is good for
muscle and joint health. It also gives you toned abs minus the painful crunches
and sit-ups. When you spin your body around the pole, it conditions your body,
giving it stability, and improves coordination and posture, besides helping you
lose weight.
Aerial yoga
Alia Bhatt tried it out while holidaying in the Maldives
with her family, and other B-town hotties like Bipasha Basu Singh Grover and Malaika Arora Khan are fans of
this fun exercise too. Aerial yoga, which is a comboof traditional yoga poses, Pilates and dance, is done
using a hammock. It comes with a host of benefits too. The movements force
every part of the body to move and stretch, toning and redefining the muscles,
strengthening the joints and improving flexibility. The stretches and movements
that are a part of the workout boost the digestive system, helping cure various
digestion-related issues, including constipation and indigestion. It also
combats ageing and its symptoms by improving blood circulation.
Aqua cycling
This fitness routine, which started in Italy, can burn
up to 800kcal per hour. Water provides support and pressure, increasing blood
circulation and facilitating fat elimination. The hydrostatic pressure of
water, combined with cycling movements, increase your blood flow and
circulation, energising your muscles, and reducing the symptoms of tired legs.
Stress is reduced and sleep is improved. Posture, muscle relaxation and
flexibility are improved.Because water gives you a
zero-gravity feeling, it supports your body weight. This exercise form is
perfect for those who are overweight, or those with joint or muscular problems.
Hula hoops
Another exercise that is fun to do with friends and also
makes you fit and toned is the humble hula hoops. An eight-minute workout using
the hula hoops can burn up to 110 calories. It works on the muscles in the
abdomen and arms, as you move your body, giving you toned abs and arms. Also,
because the entire body is on the move throughout a hula hoop session, it gives
you a full-body workout without you even realising it.
